Photoshop Introduces AI-Powered Solution to Correct Compositional Mistakes

Adobe Photoshop has introduced a new AI-powered feature called “Generative Expand” that allows users to extend images easily. This feature, available to Photoshop (Beta) users, works with the Crop tool and allows users to expand an existing image in any direction.

To use Generative Expand, users simply select the Crop tool, go to the Fill menu in the Options bar, and choose Generative Expand. They can then drag the corner and side handles to the desired size and click the “Generative Expand” button. Photoshop will automatically fill in the extra space, or users can add text prompts to guide the AI.

Generative Expand is a useful AI feature that provides photo-realistic results. Adobe has provided a guide to using Generative Expand for those interested in trying it out.

While other apps have offered similar image expansion features, Adobe is being cautious in the world of AI image generation. Its Firefly family of tools, including Generative Expand and Fill, is trained on Adobe Stock images, openly-licensed content, or public domain content to avoid copyright infringement issues.

Google has shown support for Adobe’s ethical approach to AI, planning to integrate Firefly image generation into its Bard chatbot. However, the rollout has not happened yet, and further updates are awaited.

Overall, Generative Expand is a valuable addition to Adobe Photoshop, bringing AI-powered image expansion capabilities to its users.
