Pentagon Report Debunks UFO Claims: No Evidence of Alien Technology, Says AARO
On March 6, 2024, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) within the Pentagon released a 63-page review examining allegations that the U.S. government has been hiding or reverse-engineering alien technology. After investigating over 12,000 reported UFO sightings from 1945 to the present day, the report concludes that the Department of Defense has never had access to anything related to extraterrestrial beings.
According to the report, most sightings were simply misidentifications of ordinary objects or advanced military aircraft and drones. “All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena and the result of misidentification,” the AARO stated.
The review directly addresses claims made last year by former intelligence officer David Grusch, who alleged that the government was storing alien bodies and UFOs at a classified facility. The AARO found “no empirical evidence” to support such claims.
Instead, the report suggests that the prevalence of TV shows, movies, and internet content about UFOs and aliens has likely influenced public perception and fueled belief in these ideas among some segments of the population.
While the government has faced increased pressure to be transparent about UFO investigations, the AARO maintains that Congress has been “fully and currently informed” of its findings through regular reports and briefings.
The review also offers an explanation for why some military personnel may have misidentified advanced experimental aircraft as UFOs, particularly during the technology boom of the 1950s and 1960s. Aircraft like the U-2 spy plane and F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter were so cutting-edge at the time that they were often mistaken for alien craft.
While the AARO’s report aims to provide a “rigorous analytic and scientific approach” to investigating UFO claims, it remains to be seen whether the public will be convinced by the government’s assertions that no evidence of extraterrestrial visitations exists.
