Opera One’s Generative AI Makes Browsing More Personal and Efficient

Opera, the web browser developer, has announced the public release of its generative AI-infused browser, Opera One, marking its exit from early access. The browser is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux users, who can download it directly from Opera’s website.

One of the key features of Opera One is its integrated AI assistant called Aria, accessible from the browser’s sidebar. Users can activate Aria using a keyboard shortcut (CTRL or Command and “/”). Starting with this release, the AI assistant is also available in Opera’s Android browser.

Opera’s partnership with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has enabled the development of Aria. The AI assistant leverages the power of GPT to provide users with answers to their queries, incorporating real-time information from the web. Aria can generate text or code and assist users with support-related questions regarding Opera products. The browser also facilitates the generation of contextual prompts for Aria through right-clicking or highlighting text. Additionally, users have the option to access other AI models like ChatGPT or ChatSonic from the Opera One sidebar.

Opera assures users that engagement with the browser’s AI features is entirely optional. However, to utilize Aria, users must be logged into their Opera account.

In addition to its AI capabilities, Opera One boasts a fresh design based on modular principles. The browser’s adaptive modules adjust dynamically based on context, offering users a seamless and personalized browsing experience, as highlighted in a recent blog post by Opera.

Addressing the issue of tab clutter, Opera One introduces a feature called “tab islands.” Using contextual cues, the browser groups related tabs together, such as those relevant to travel itineraries or work projects involving multiple Google Docs.

Under the hood, Opera has implemented a new architecture with a multithreaded compositor, aiming to deliver a faster and smoother user interface. This approach not only enhances performance but also enables Opera One to differentiate itself from other Chromium-based browsers. The company has hinted at future AI-focused updates planned for later this year, further expanding the capabilities of Opera One.

With Opera One, Opera seeks to offer users an intelligent and streamlined browsing experience while leveraging the power of AI. The public release signifies the culmination of the browser’s development journey and signals Opera’s commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation in the web browsing space.
