Oculus Publishing is the new name for Meta’s VR game publisher

Oculus Publishing is the new name for Meta’s publishing division for virtual reality games. The company’s brand for first-party games, Oculus Studios, is not affiliated with this division at all. Instead, Oculus Publishing will provide conceptualization, money, technological assistance, promotion, and merchandising to partner developers. The division itself is not new, despite the name being new. Over 300 games, including The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Bonelab, and Among Us VR, had previously received funding and support from it.

Oculus Publishing presently has over 150 games in development, which is encouraging news for Quest 3, which is anticipated to release this year, according to the firm. According to earlier rumors, the next-generation Quest will include mixed reality capabilities, be thinner and more powerful than its predecessor. As a result, some of these new games—Meta, however, didn’t name any of them in its announcement—might contain features that weren’t feasible for earlier games.

The Meta Quest Store already offers users more than 500 titles to select from, and business appears to be brisk. 40 games and applications on the store generated more than $10 million in sales last year, the business reported, surpassing the $1.5 billion mark. In addition, the number of titles with $20 million or more in revenue increased by 50% from the previous year.
