Nyck de Vries ‘not giving up’ on F1 dream after Helmut Marko admission

Nyck de Vries, the Dutch racing driver, is determined to prove Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko wrong through his performance on the track. Despite the public criticism he has faced from Marko, de Vries is focused on building momentum and finding his stride in Formula 1 without forcing results.

Since the start of the season, de Vries has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A lack of competitiveness and numerous mistakes have marred his year so far. Marko’s public criticism of de Vries’ season, along with his revelation of disagreement with Red Bull team boss Christian Horner regarding signing the Dutch driver, has only intensified the scrutiny.

When asked about the added pressure resulting from Marko’s comments and the challenge of acclimating to Formula 1 while seeking momentum, de Vries responded matter-of-factly during media interactions in Austria.

“I think Dr. Marko would appreciate if I proved him wrong on track,” de Vries stated.

He expressed his belief that his performance on the track is the most effective way to respond to Marko’s criticisms. De Vries acknowledges that it is within his control to change Marko’s perception through his racing achievements.

However, de Vries is cautious about putting undue pressure on himself and attempting to force a turnaround. He understands the dangers of trying too hard and making mistakes as a result.

“While there is a desire to improve, there is no need to force anything,” de Vries explained.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a patient approach and continuing to focus on his job. De Vries believes that by staying committed and allowing things to naturally come together, he can tap into his potential and achieve the desired results.

De Vries remains determined to prove his worth and show that he has what it takes to succeed in Formula 1. With a measured mindset and a focus on steady progress, he is confident that the pieces will eventually fall into place, bringing success and silencing the doubters.
