According to a Twitter leaker, Nvidia might be dropping production of the RTX 4090 Ti due to its high power consumption. Instead, the company could be focusing on releasing two new versions of the GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 graphics cards, using “low-grade AD103 and AD106 chips” for their development.
The reasons for canceling the RTX 4090 Ti could be twofold – its high power consumption and the success of the vanilla GeForce RTX 4090, which is currently one of the best graphics cards on the market. Nvidia might be content with the popularity and sales of the existing model and may not see the need to release another upgrade that may not perform as well in terms of sales.
Additionally, the underwhelming sales of the RTX 4060 Ti could be a contributing factor to the decision to drop the RTX 4090 Ti. Sales of the RTX 4060 Ti have reportedly been disappointing, leading Nvidia to quietly discontinue it without much fanfare.
