Nvidia stated that it is investigating a “event” — just hours after it was claimed that the graphics chipmaker had suffered a severe cyberattack over the last two days that “totally corrupted” the company’s internal systems.
Even trustworthy sources are not implying that Nvidia’s data has been taken or deleted, and there is currently no indication that the “event” is connected to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, though cyberattacks and internet infrastructure have been targets.
However, if a US-based corporation such as Nvidia is targeted, the US may respond with retaliation. “If Russia conducts cyberattacks on our businesses and key infrastructure, we will retaliate,” President Biden stated during his Thursday address.
While the purported hack reportedly disabled Nvidia’s email, we received a statement from the company today via an Nvidia email address.
