Nike, the multinational corporation that designs, develops, and sells footwear, apparel, and accessories, has announced the launch of its first digital collectibles through its .Swoosh web3 platform. The company is set to release the Our Force 1 (OF1) series of “virtual creations” to a select group with invitations on May 8th, while general access will open on May 10th.
The OF1 collection includes over 100,000 “Nike Virtual Creations,” primarily based on the Air Force 1. Buyers can choose between two boxes, the “Classic Remix” or the “New Wave,” each costing $19.82. However, buyers won’t know what design they’re getting, as they’re paying for a digital box. After May 10th, Nike will reveal all OF1 boxes at the same time. Swoosh members will be alerted when that day comes, and each box comes with a 3D file that buyers can use to export to other platforms.
The Classic Remix box includes a “favorite, classic archive AF1 released from 1982 to 2006” or “a more unique, custom AF1 with a nostalgic twist.” On the other hand, the New Wave box includes a “classic archive from 2007 or later” or “an expressive, custom AF1 with a more futuristic twist.” Additionally, there are four designs from the winners of the company’s previous “Your Force 1” contest in both boxes.
According to Nike, these digital collectibles aren’t just for online use. The company plans to introduce other new utilities and benefits in the near future, such as exclusive physical products or experiences.
Since its launch, .Swoosh has seen over 330,000 accounts created. On April 18th, Nike will randomly choose about 106,453 members to receive virtual posters via Airdrop, allowing them early access to buying an OF1 box. Nike’s DEI and SC+I partners, as well as those who participated in the #OurForce1 challenge and/or registered at Nike’s .Swoosh Session tour stops, will also be included in this Airdrop.
If you’re interested in purchasing an OF1 box, you must have an account on the Swoosh website and have minted your ID. Only those who have already minted their IDs before April 12th will be considered for early access. Nike fans willing to part with $20 for a digital collectible with the possibility of early access to future product drops can register at swoosh.nike to be eligible to buy an OF1 on May 10th.
