New Philips Hue Features Make Lights Smarter and More Convenient

Signify, the manufacturer of Philips Hue smart lighting, has announced new features and products aimed at improving the user experience. The updates include a brightness balancer and enhanced functionality for motion sensors, while the company has also unveiled three new lighting products, albeit exclusively in the UK.

The first addition, called brightness balancer, addresses a common user request. This feature simplifies the process of matching brightness levels across multiple lights in the same room. By dimming brighter lights more than dim lights, users can achieve even lighting or selectively highlight specific areas of a room when synchronizing with their TV, movies, games, or music. Philips Hue users can now have greater control over the lighting ambiance in their spaces.

The second feature focuses on motion sensors, a popular tool for automating lighting conditions. Previously, the Philips Hue bridge app supported only two time slots for adjusting light conditions based on motion detection, such as cool lighting in the morning and warm lighting in the evening. However, with the new update, users will have the ability to customize lighting conditions with up to 10 time slots when motion is detected. This expanded functionality allows for more precise control and customization of lighting scenes throughout the day, including the option to mimic natural light variations.

In addition to the software updates, Philips Hue has introduced three new lighting products, available exclusively in the UK. The E14 luster bulb is the smallest golf ball-sized bulb in the range and offers millions of shades of white and color light. It can be purchased as a single bulb (£30) or in a pack of three (£55). The Surimu panel and Aurelle panel lights are also part of the new offerings, providing stylish options for ambient lighting. The Surimu panel starts at £210 for the 300x300mm model, while the Aurelle panel, available in black, is priced at £150 for the 300x300mm variant.

The new lighting products are available for purchase in the UK starting today. As for the updated Hue Bridge features, they are scheduled to be launched in the third quarter of 2023, offering users even greater flexibility and control over their Philips Hue smart lighting system.
