One of the most popular accessories for the Meta Quest 3, the Elite Strap with battery, has hit a snag, and Meta has decided to pause all sales of the accessory until further notice. The Elite Strap, which costs $130, has been known to increase the run time of the Meta Quest 3 by upto 2 hours, making it a must have for VR enthusiasts. The product has been pulled from all online portals while the company has also issued a recall from all physical sellers.
Meta has informed the media that they are currently in the process of seeding a firmware update and shipping the same in a brand new batch of Elite Straps. They plan to resolve defects on a case by case basis, so if you are a customer who has been affected by this problem, you can contact the customer support and the straps will be replaced.
The problem that users are facing is that the strap initially charges the device, but stops abruptly. Now, Meta has noted that this problem is not a universal one, and may be restricted to one batch, which, they believe, can be replaced in due time. Meta has had problems with their Elite Strap in the past, but they have also resolved the same quickly, which is a positive aspect for customers who are currently facing this problem.
If you are a Meta Quest 3 user and your Elite strap is facing this issue, you should contact customer service and get in the waitlist to receive a free replacement.
