Currently occupying fifth place in the standings, McLaren acknowledges the competition, particularly from Alpine, but remains resolute in its decision to channel resources towards the 2024 car.
“The focus itself on development has stopped,” stated Stella during discussions with the media, including PlanetF1.com, at the Monza circuit. “We are now working on next year’s car. I think this is pretty much what has happened in every team.”
Stella clarified that although the primary focus has shifted, fans can still anticipate some new parts being introduced to the MCL60 in the coming races. These parts are a result of a time lag between development at the factory and their delivery to the trackside.
