Formula 1 has witnessed a surge in interest in the United States, with the country hosting three races in a single season. For American drivers like Logan Sargeant, pursuing a career in F1 often requires relocating to Europe. While Haas markets itself as the American team, some fans express disappointment that much of its operations occur overseas.
Logan Sargeant, who left the United States at a young age to advance his karting career, has been touted as America’s poster boy in F1. Nevertheless, he acknowledges that he may not have fully won over American fans.
“The popularity of Formula 1 is growing rapidly in America,” the 22-year-old driver shared in an interview with FORMULE 1 Magazine. “We have three races there this year, which I think is very cool. Miami was special, especially for me as an American.”
Sargeant expressed his anticipation for the upcoming F1 races in Austin and Las Vegas, expecting significant enthusiasm from the American audience. He highlighted the drivers’ parade in Miami as a particularly special moment, allowing him to introduce himself to American fans for the first time. While he acknowledges becoming somewhat better known in the United States, he recognizes the challenges of measuring his popularity accurately.
“I am becoming a bit better known in America, yes. But how well known is difficult for me to say,” he remarked. “After all, I’m not there that often; I’m in London all the time.”
In essence, Logan Sargeant continues to strive for a stronger connection with American F1 enthusiasts as the sport gains traction in the United States.
