ChromeOS is an operating system that is still trying to find its place in the market. The Chromebook laptops that have come out from the various brands, have not really impressed majority of the username, and the whole Google entered approach is not something that people want to subscribe to right now. Then, we have the restriction on the softwares that actually work on these devices, which is not a lot, and the performance benchmarks do not pin them at the top of the list. All in all, they are there, but not really THERE.
Lenovo, have released ChromeOS devices in the past, and it looks like they have decided to stick to the operating system a little longer. Sleuths online have found a hidden code in Chromium (the platform on which the ChromeOS is based on), hinting at a device that has the same battery specs as the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5. Now, nothing officially has come from Lenovo, but this little clue surely points towards another ChromeOS device from the tech giant.
At the moment, this tablet device has been codenamed ‘Ciri’, and it is supposedly going to run the Mediatek MT8188 chipset. Incidentally, the chipset has not yet been released to the public, but initial reports suggest that it will be better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 which powers the Duet 5.
Now, were would err on the side of caution and take all of this with a pinch of salt, as there is still no confirmation as to whether such a device will even be made, and if yes, what will it be? A tablet? A 2-in-1? We will just have to wait for the official announcement from Lenovo.
