Kia unveils its EV9 electric SUV with Level 3 autonomy and an impressive 336-mile range

Depending on the model, the EV9’s performance can be relatively brisk. The RWD Long Range with a 150 kW motor is the slowest-accelerating version, with a 0-62MPH time of 9.4 seconds, while the Standard Range edition with a 160 kW motor can achieve that run in 8.2 seconds. The AWD model comes with a dual-motor 283 kW powerplant that can typically hit 62 MPH in just six seconds.

However, some features are only accessible through digital purchases from Kia’s Connect Store. Enhancing the pattern lighting on the grille and adding a “Boost” feature that provides extra torque for a 0-62 MPH dash in 5.3 seconds are among the features that require an additional fee. The EV9 does offer several driver aids and conveniences, including hands-off parking and navigation-based “Smart Cruise Control.” It is also the first Kia to support ultra-wide band digital keys, allowing drivers to enter the car without the need for a conventional key.
