Insta360 announces Leica branded AI action Cam

Insta360 just unleashed the Ace Pro, jumping into the 2023 action camera frenzy alongside DJI’s Osmo Action 4 and GoPro’s Hero 12. What makes it stand out? Picture a pumped-up GoPro – the Ace Pro boasts a slick 2.4-inch flip touchscreen, a hefty 1/1.3-inch sensor, Leica tuning, and a robust 5nm AI neural processor.

This bad boy comes loaded with the usual cool features – “FlowState Stabilization,” IPX8 waterproof rating (up to 33ft), and a battery that keeps you rolling for up to 100 minutes in 4K@30fps Active HDR. Plus, there’s fast charging – 80 percent in 22 minutes or a full 100 percent in 46 minutes.

Insta360 is betting big on the Ace Pro’s AI game. They claim that the AI, combined with the new sensor, elevates your low-light videos (up to 4K@30fps) and stills (up to 48 megapixels) to a whole new level. Throw in an “Active HDR Video” mode for better colors in specific lighting conditions, and it’s looking promising. The Ace Pro does 4K@60fps, 4K@120fps (slow-mo), or even 8K@24fps, but you won’t get the AI boost or Active HDR in those modes.

Now, the cool part – the dedicated AI chip brings us “AI Highlights Assistant.” It analyzes your video, spots the best parts in real time, and lets you edit on the fly.

Wait, there’s more. “AI Warp” in the “Shot Lab” lets you give your videos a style makeover – cyberpunk, anime, space, or superhero vibes. And brace yourself for more AI effects in 2024. The Ace Pro is up for grabs at $450 with a standard mount and a flexible adhesive mount. A slightly cheaper version at $380 packs a smaller 1/2-inch sensor, maxing out at 6K@30fps, and skips the fast charging and Leica touch.
