Huawei and Chery Autos Unveil Luxeed: The Future of Electric Vehicles

Luxeed's S7 Coupe-Style EV Set to Make Waves in the Chinese Market

Huawei, in collaboration with Chery Autos, is taking its bold step further into the electric vehicle (EV) industry, and the world is about to witness the debut of their first production model. The Luxeed S7, a coupe-style EV, is scheduled to make its grand entrance in China in late November, marking a significant milestone in this groundbreaking partnership.

A Fusion of Expertise

Luxeed’s venture combines Huawei’s cutting-edge technology prowess with Chery’s extensive manufacturing expertise. This formidable partnership aims to create a compelling offering in the increasingly competitive EV market. The ambition for Luxeed is evident, with Richard Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei’s car unit, confidently declaring that the S7 will outshine Tesla’s Model S in multiple aspects.

Details Awaited

While the official unveiling generated significant excitement, specific details about the Luxeed S7 remain under wraps. The vehicle’s range, pricing, and technological features were not disclosed during the event. However, it was revealed in August that the S7 would be built on Chery’s E0X platform, specially designed for all-wheel-drive EVs with two motors.

Huawei’s Growing Presence in EVs

This venture isn’t Huawei’s inaugural foray into the EV market. In 2021, the tech giant partnered with automaker Seres to create the Aito brand, which it now fully owns. Aito introduced its first all-electric model, the M5, last year, with plans to launch the luxury electric SUV, the M9, in China this December. Huawei has also been actively supplying its intelligent automotive solutions, including a 4D imaging radar and an autonomous driving platform, to other automakers.

US Market Hurdles

Despite its growing success in the EV industry, Luxeed’s S7 is unlikely to find its way to the US market in the near future, if ever. Huawei continues to grapple with sanctions in the United States, limiting its ability to expand its presence in the country.
