iOS 17 brought a slew of changes and features to iPhones and one of the more talked about features is ‘check in’. This feature was designed to make it easier for us to track our near and dear ones, in case they are travelling alone. This is a great feature when you have youngsters in the family who have to travel outside for work or study, and this feature gives you their live location, making it easy to see if they have reached home on time. Even if you have a sibling or a loved one living in another part of the world, and they are currently out late, check-in will let you know if they are home safe and sound. Using this feature is fairly simple, but keep one thing in mind – this feature only works between iPhones that are running iOS 17.
Step 1. Open the iMessage app on your iPhone.
Step 2. Open the chat with the desired contact. It could be anyone, as long as they allow the conversation.
Step 3. Now, tap on the ‘+’ button next the message text box.
Step 4. From the menu that appears, tap on the ‘Check In’ option.
Step 5. You will now have the option to send a check in immediately or check in at a specific time. If you want to inform your recipient that you ave reached your location, pick the check in option. If you are on the way home and expect to reach in a certain time frame, you can send a scheduled check-in.
Step 6. Once you make your choice, the check in will be sent to the recipient.
It is that simple. We absolutely love this new feature from Apple. It is a small one, and not really earth-shattering, or something that is out of the world, but the meaning and significance of this feature is truly special, and we would love to tip our hat to Apple for putting in this essential feature in iOS 17.
If you do not have an iPhone that is running iOS17, this feature will not be available, and there is no mod or cracked version of this feature. In such a scenario, you can use other features such as location sharing, to inform your near and dear ones of your location.
