How to open downloaded documents within Microsoft Edge

When Microsoft launched Windows 10, they announced that they would also be launching a whole new version of Microsoft Edge and that it would be an absolute game-changer. Having seen this kind of promise before, users remained skeptical, but as it turns out, everyone was in for a bit of a surprise. In 2019, the world was introduced to Microsoft’s brand new Edge browser, and almost immediately, what caught everyone’s attention was the fact that this browser was based on the Chromium source code, the same source code that powers Google Chrome. What Microsoft had done, was simple. They saw what powered the best web browser in the world, and used it to make their own flavor.

Whenever you are browsing the web, there are times where you may have to download a file or document, or you may receive a file in an email that must be downloaded before you can view it. Earlier, when you downloaded the file, you would have to manually head to the download path, access the file, and then open it with compatible software. On Microsoft Edge, however, if you receive spreadsheets, documents, or presentations in an email, or if you end up downloading such files from other websites, then you can actually view them straight from the browser, rather than going about the old technique.

Let’s take a look at how you can enable this feature on your copy of Microsoft Edge –

Step 1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser on your computer.

Once you confirm the choice, you can restart the browser and if you want to try this feature out, download an attachment or a file that is either a presentation, spreadsheet, or document and you will see that the file is opened within the browser, and that makes things very easy, especially if you just want to view the document. If you want to edit the document, then you can obviously open it with the proper software.
