When Instagram launched back in 2010, it was meant to be a platform for users to share the most important moments of their lives through images. There were no complexities, no algorithm-driven shenanigans, just plain image uploads.
However, as time passed, Instagram became more than just an image-sharing platform. Today, people use this platform to grow their businesses, collaborate with people across countries, and also, as originally intended, share precious moments with friends and family. Today, it is possible to create a new account via the smartphone app or the web, making it very easy for you to get yourself on the platform.
Let’s take a look at how to open an Instagram account
Method 1 – Using the web version
Step 1. Open the web browser of your choice.
Step 2. Head to the Instagram webpage.
Step 3. On the landing page, you will see two options – You can either log in to your existing account or sign up for a new account.
Step 4. Since we are going to create a new account, click on the ‘Sign Up’ option.
Step 5. Next, enter the email ID or mobile number that you want to use for signing up. Enter your full name, followed by the username that you want to use on the platform. The username will also be known as your Instagram handle. After that, create a password for your account. If everything is good, you will see ticks next to your entries.
Step 6. If you see all ticks next to your entries, click on the Sign Up button, and you are done.
Once your account is created, you can add a profile photo to help people identify you on the platform, and once that is done, you can start uploading your content on the platform.
Method 2. Using the Instagram app
Step 1. Install the Instagram app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
Step 2. If you have already had an Instagram account, you will get the option to log in. However, since we are creating a new account, tap on the ‘Create New Account’ option.
Step 3. First enter the full name that you want to use.
Step 4. Create a Password that you will use to log into your account.
Step 5. Next, choose you date of birth.
Step 6. Now, type in a username of your choice. This will be known as your Instagram handle going forward.
Step 7. If you are signing up using your mobile number, you will have to verify the same.
This will complete your account creation. You can now start uploading your content as per your desire. If you are someone who loves posting photos and videos at a particular time everyday, or maybe you want to upload a birthday post for your friend, but don’t want to risk falling asleep and missing the 12 AM deadline, Instagram has recently added in a schedule post feature that allows users to create content and post it on the date and time that they require.
