LiveWire, the electric motorcycle company that emerged from Harley-Davidson’s electric division, has unveiled the specifications of its S2 Del Mar e-motorcycle. Priced at $15,499, the upcoming bike boasts impressive performance capabilities, with a zero to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.0 seconds, a top speed of 103 mph, and 84 horsepower (63 kW).
Earlier this year, LiveWire provided preliminary specs for the S2 Del Mar, but the official details slightly surpass some of the initial expectations. The city range has been upgraded from an anticipated 110 miles to 113 miles on a single charge. The acceleration time from zero to 60 mph has improved from the initially advertised 3.1 seconds to the faster 3.0 seconds. Additionally, the torque rating has increased from the previously stated 184-pound-foot to 194 ft-lb.
However, the S2 Del Mar is slightly heavier than initially expected, with a running order weight of 436 lbs, compared to the 431 lbs LiveWire announced in April. The Level 2 charging time, which charges the battery from 20 percent to 80 percent, is now listed at 78 minutes, slightly longer than the initial 75 minutes. It’s important to note that the bike does not support fast charging and is limited to Level 1 and Level 2 capabilities. The S2 Del Mar is primarily designed as a commuter motorcycle rather than a long-distance touring vehicle. It offers a highway driving range of 43 miles at 70 mph and a combined range of 62 miles at that speed. However, if the speed is reduced to 55 mph, the highway range extends to 70 miles, and the combined range increases to 86 miles.
The S2 Del Mar features Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, allowing the motorcycle to receive updates and improvements as they are developed. The bike also includes a four-inch round screen, USB-C connectivity for phone integration, and app-based navigation support.
The S2 Del Mar is still priced at the previously advertised $15,499 MSRP. While the official release date has not been announced, LiveWire had initially targeted a launch in the United States in July. With the release of the specifications, the official arrival of the S2 Del Mar may be just around the corner.
