Hackers seemingly hit General Electric and siphoned off company data

A hacker who goes by the name IntelBroker, has come out and claimed that he has hit General Electric and siphoned off critical company data. General Electric, for those of you who don’t know, is a multinational conglomerate, founded by Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan, back in 1892. You will find their presence in a number of industries including aerospace, renewable power, energy, and more.

The hacker has opened a thread on an underground forum where he is selling access to the company’s “development and software pipelines” for a mere $500. However, the sale failed, after which, he has decided to sell each element of the files, separately.

“I previously listed the access to General Electrics, however, no serious buyers have actually responded to me or followed up,” the hacker was cited as saying. “I am now selling the entire thing here separately, including access (SSH, SVN etc).”

“Data includes a lot of DARPA-related military information, files, SQL files, documents etc.”

General Electric has acknowledged this attack and issued a statement which says – “We are aware of claims made by a bad actor regarding GE data and are investigating these claims. We will take appropriate measures to help protect the integrity of our systems,”

The company is hard at work and has ensured that they will be taking extra precautions and bringing in some tighter security measures to protect their data.
