Google’s new AI feature for Sheets can help you create custom templates in minutes

Say goodbye to tedious data entry with Duet AI

Google continues to enhance its Duet AI within Google Workspace, as testers now have access to a new sidebar feature in Google Sheets. Starting today, users can describe the task they want to accomplish, and Duet AI will generate a custom template to facilitate their workflow.

This latest addition is particularly useful for users tackling complex organizational and tracking tasks, according to Google. The company highlights potential use cases such as creating product roadmaps, planning company retreats, and managing team budgets. If the feature performs as intended, it has the potential to significantly save users time. Currently, the feature is available in Workspace Labs for testers to explore.

Since announcing Duet for Workspace at its I/O conference last month, Google has been rapidly expanding the AI’s toolset. Testers can now enter prompts in the web version of Docs, and Duet will generate text for them, making content creation more efficient. It can also automatically insert smart chips for added contextual information.

In Gmail, Duet AI is capable of drafting emails on both web and mobile platforms. It offers contextual suggestions for replies, streamlining the email composition process. Additionally, in Slides, testers can generate images based on text prompts, enabling the creation of visually appealing presentations.

Looking ahead, Google plans to introduce more generative AI features to Workspace Labs in the coming months. Meanwhile, the company’s Bard AI has made significant progress as well, now enabling users to export the data it generates to Google Sheets. This functionality allows users to organize and modify the data within Sheets, enhancing their data management capabilities.

As Google continues to invest in advancing its AI-powered tools, users can expect increased productivity and efficiency in their daily workflows within Google Workspace.
