With a new feature dubbed in-meeting responses, Google is making Meet more social. Users may send one of nine emoji replies, including ?? and ?, which will show on the recipient’s window and will be visible to everyone in the meeting. If many people submit emojis at the same time, they will display as a burst on the left side of your screen.
To utilise the feature, click the grin symbol in the control bar and then mouse over the bar that appears to pick the skin tone for all emojis. It’s a “non-disruptive approach to communicate and participate in meetings without interrupting the speaker,” with “skin tones that best suit your identity,” according to Google. Reactions will be enabled by default and may be disabled in the Admin panel. The functionality will be available to all consumer and paying customers beginning January 16th on the web, Meet hardware devices, and mobile.
360-degree backdrops will also be available in the future weeks. For a more immersive experience, users on mobile will be able to enter 360-degree backdrops that change around depending on your device’s gyroscope. Backgrounds include a beach to begin, followed by an oasis, sky metropolis, and mountain temples. It will be accessible to both consumers and paying users on mobile devices iOS and Android.
