The desktop Google Chrome has a Memory Saver Mode which saves the data of the websites or tabs. This feature is being made even smarter, as it reduces the usage of memory by working on the tabs which are not being used, to save the memory.
There is a feature called Probabilistic Memory Saver Mode, which is currently being used by Google Chrome Canary Version 121. It can be found in the address bar by typing “about://flags”, as it is not enabled by default.
The Memory Saver Feature basically cleans up the tabs which have not been used for a while and frees up the RAM for the new tabs which are currently in use. One disadvantage is that, if you try to access the unused tabs, it might take a little longer to load them.
Probabilistic Memory Saver utilises “probability distributions to estimate the chance of tab revisit based on observations about the tab’s state”, which means that there will be a balance maintained between tab snoozing and memory saving.
