Gmail for Android Introduces ‘Select All’ Function to Simplify Inbox Management

Mobile Users Can Now Easily Select Up to 50 Emails or Search Results

Gmail, the popular email service, has unveiled a new feature designed to streamline inbox management for users on the move. The Gmail for Android app will soon include a “Select All” function, enabling users to instantly select up to 50 emails in their inbox or search results.

This update aims to simplify the process of organizing emails, particularly for mobile users who often grapple with crowded inboxes while trying to locate specific information.

The rollout of this feature has already begun, allowing Gmail users on Android to download the updated app version from the Play Store.

Although the “Select All” function has been available on desktop for some time, this marks its debut on mobile devices. The decision to cap the selection limit at 50 emails aligns with the desktop version, providing users with a convenient tool for managing their messages.

This release is part of Gmail’s ongoing efforts to enhance the mobile app and ensure that users can maximize their productivity and efficiency.

Earlier in June, Google introduced its AI-powered Help Me Write tool to Gmail for both Android and iOS users. This tool assists users in drafting email replies, offering editing suggestions for emails already composed or generating entire email responses based on user prompts. Users can further customize and refine these responses to match their preferences.

Despite these improvements, Google has faced criticism for embedding ads within user inboxes in its mobile apps. Additionally, the removal of the red notification icon indicating new emails on Android devices generated user dissatisfaction and sparked debate within the Gmail community.
