George Russell’s crash: Did Fernando Alonso play a role?

During the opening laps, Russell aggressively pursued Alonso, creating an intense battle. However, on Lap 12, Russell’s ambitions were dashed when he misjudged the Turn 8/9 chicane, taking too much of the sausage kerb and losing control. The impact with the wall caused significant damage to his Mercedes W14.

Despite managing to return to the race in 19th and last place, Russell was disheartened by the outcome and took responsibility for the incident. Apologizing to his team, he acknowledged the extensive efforts put into the weekend and admitted that a small mistake had major consequences.
