Free users can now use ChatGPT’s voice chat feature

Got some cool news from the ChatGPT squad. Remember that voice chat thing they dropped in September? Yeah, the one where you could have a chit-chat with the AI. Well, back then, it was like an exclusive party for the Plus and Enterprise crew. But hold on to your hats because now, they’ve opened it up for all you free users on mobile!

So, picture this: you’re having actual conversations with ChatGPT using your voice. It’s like something out of the future, right? They introduced it first for the paying folks, but now they’re letting everyone join the party. You can choose from five different voices, and it’s all powered by some cool text-to-speech magic.

Now, don’t go rushing to your ChatGPT app just yet expecting to find it. It might take a bit before it reaches everyone. And who knows, you might need to do a little dance in the settings to turn it on. Back when they first rolled it out, the paid crew had to flip a switch in the settings to get it going.

Oh, and here’s a little twist to the story: this announcement came just when things were getting wild over at OpenAI. The co-founder Greg Brockman had left the building, there was drama with the CEO being fired, and folks were threatening to quit. But surprise, surprise! After the announcement, they decided to bring Greg and the CEO back.
