Foundation has helped to lead Apple TV Plus’ push into the sci-fi genre. While other shows like See helped to lay the initial foundations, Foundation proved that there was audience demand for long-form storytelling in this space on Apple’s streaming service. Since the first season of Foundation ended, Apple has released a number of other sci-fi series, including Invasion, Severance, Silo, Circuit Breakers, and Hello Tomorrow!, with some of them already renewed for second seasons. The success of these shows proves that Apple’s focus on the sci-fi genre is paying off, and the anticipation around Foundation season 2 is a testament to the appetite for this type of storytelling.
