Esteban Ocon Teases Upgrades from ‘APXGP’ Film Car at Silverstone

As rumors persist about Brad Pitt and the APXGP car potentially participating in the formation lap at the British Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon jokingly warns rivals to watch out for their upgrades.

Pitt has been filming his Formula 1 movie, which features a retired F1 driver returning to assist a rookie teammate, at the Silverstone circuit. The car associated with the film made an appearance on the track during filming.

While details about the movie are limited, with Pitt playing ‘Sonny Hayes’ and Damson Idris portraying the rookie racer ‘Joshua Pearce,’ it is rumored that seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton may make a cameo as a co-producer. The movie has set up a full garage in the pits for the fictional drivers, and there are reports that the car will participate in the installation lap on Sunday, although this is unconfirmed.

Additionally, the car is expected to be present at next week’s Pirelli tire test, joining Red Bull and Haas on the track. The modified Formula 2 car made to resemble a Formula 1 car will be used for the film.

In light of these developments, Ocon jokingly suggests that the APXGP car could be a surprise to watch out for during the weekend.

“I think APXGP is bringing some upgrades this weekend,” Ocon said with a laugh during the driver press conference on Thursday. “Sonny Hayes is in good shape; we’re going to see how that works.”

In a more serious tone, Ocon aims to score points this weekend after failing to do so in the Austrian Grand Prix, where he finished P7 in the sprint race and failed to finish in the points. Alpine, his team, will also introduce their own updates at the Silverstone circuit.

“We are bringing a new front wing,” confirmed Ocon. “We’ve worked well on bringing parts for both cars which should help our performance this weekend.”
