DJI Mini 4 Pro Leak Hints at Imminent Drone Launch – A Surprise on the Horizon?

A leaked image suggests that DJI may be working on a follow-up to its DJI Mini 3 Pro drone, tentatively named the DJI Mini 4 Pro. While specific specs are not yet available, the leaked image indicates a potential upgrade in the form of an omnidirectional obstacle-sensing system, similar to what was introduced in the DJI Air 3.

The leaked image reveals fisheye sensors above the camera and gimbal, facing outward to the sides, which could indicate advanced obstacle avoidance capabilities. However, the leaked image also suggests that the Mini 4 Pro may continue to feature a single camera, similar to its predecessor, which is a weight-saving decision that keeps the drone below the sub-250g weight limit in many regions.

Another expected upgrade could be the inclusion of OcuSync 4.0, DJI’s latest digital transmission system, which enhances signal reliability and extends the range, although regulatory restrictions may limit the use of this extended range in many areas.

Considering DJI’s recent product launch cycles, the release of the Mini 4 Pro in 2023 is plausible, given that the Mini 3 Pro was launched in May 2022. It’s anticipated that the Mini 4 Pro may bring the Mini series in line with the Air 3, featuring an omnidirectional obstacle sensing system, OcuSync 4.0 compatibility, and possibly a new controller.

While the Mini 4 Pro appears to be a minor upgrade, it could offer quality-of-life improvements similar to those seen in the Air 3, making it an appealing option for travel photography enthusiasts.
