Before we get into the specifics, it’s important noting that the business behind the Alpha 5 isn’t the same one that created the original DeLorean automobiles – that company went bankrupt in 1982. In April, an unrelated Texas-based firm that supplies replacement components to owners of classic DeLoreans purchased the rights to the DeLorean brand and teased an all-electric rebirth.
The Alpha 5 could have a 100kWh battery, with a range of 300 miles and a top speed of 155mph. DeLorean says these specifications will be part of the “basic” performance model, but there’s no information on other possible performance tiers or pricing.
