The development of AI has taken on a feverish pace recently. There seems to be end to the sheer speed of AI tools that are being developed. Some of the AI apps have shown their application, but there are some who are exploiting AI to meet their nefarious ends.
At the recently conducted AI summit at Bletchley Park, close to 30 countries who attended this event came to an agreement that steps have to be taken to ensure that AI is developed more responsibly.
British PM Rishi Sunak, who spearheaded this summit, called this event a ‘World’s First’, read out the official announcement, that said – “The Declaration fulfils key summit objectives in establishing shared agreement and responsibility on the risks, opportunities and a forward process for international collaboration on frontier AI safety and research.”
“This is a landmark achievement that sees the world’s greatest AI powers agree on the urgency behind understanding the risks of AI – helping ensure the long-term future of our children and grandchildren.”, he continued.
The event will also see interactions between the representatives of the nations and tech heads who are at the forefront of AI development. It is imperative that there is a transparent dialogue between the governments and industries so that the development of AI technology can be monitored and in case things start getting out of hand, the clarity of dialogue will help governments intervene and bring in required restrictions, or even put a stop to the development until things get sorted out.
