Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a new Borderlands spinoff, is scheduled to launch on March 25th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and will allow crossplay across all platforms – including PlayStation.
Sony is well-known for its opposition to crossplay, initially prohibiting it in some popular multiplayer games such as Fortnite and Rocket League. While the studio finally enabled crossplay for those two titles, Borderlands 3’s June 2021 crossplay update omitted PlayStation support.
However, when Gearbox CEO and president Randy Pitchford announced Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ crossplay support in a tweet on Sunday (via Kotaku), he expressly included PlayStation crossplay and thanked Sony for “collaborating on this.” Because co-op multiplayer is an important component of the game, adding support for Sony’s platforms should increase the number of players.
