When Apple starts broadcasting Major League Soccer games next year, expect to see a lot of advertisements. Bloomberg reports that the corporation is constructing an advertising network to support its 10-year arrangement with the league. Apple is said to be in negotiations with MLS sponsors about broadcasting commercials during games and related programming for next season.
It also seems that paying extra will not allow hardcore fans to avoid ad interruptions. According to Bloomberg, the firm expects to display advertisements across all three levels of the agreement, which means you’ll see commercials whether you pay for a dedicated package, access the games via your existing TV+ subscription, or watch a free match on the company’s TV app.
The move is part of Apple’s larger effort to raise its revenue from advertising. The company’s advertising division presently earns about $4 billion in yearly revenue. Todd Teresi, the division’s chief, is allegedly pushing to raise that figure to $10 billion or more. To that goal, Apple has increased the number of commercials in the App Store and is experimenting search advertisements inside its Maps app.
