Apple Music Plans to Expand Spatial Audio Catalog in 2023, Encouraging More Artists to Embrace 3D Sound

Hey music fans, get ready for a whole lot more spatial audio tracks coming to Apple Music in 2023!

Big names like Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, and Michael Bublé have already done Dolby Atmos mixes. And Apple is now incentivizing tons more artists to add spatial audio.

For the uninitiated, spatial audio gives music a cool 3D, surround sound effect. It really puts you right there in the studio or concert hall with extra realism.

I’m listening to Troye Sivan’s latest in Dolby Atmos right now and it’s incredibly intimate and immediate. Live albums also gain new life from the remixed spatial audio.

So how’s Apple pushing for more? Reportedly they’ll give spatial audio tracks better search rankings and pay artists higher royalties too – even if no one listens!

The goal is dual – promote Apple Music over Spotify by offering something unique, and sell more Apple headphones and audio gear that support spatial audio. Pretty smart business move.

It’s available on a huge range of Apple devices nowadays, from recent iPhones and iPads to their Silicon Macs and Apple TV. Spatial audio helps sell the hardware.

Apple hasn’t confirmed the report, but reading between the lines, expect spatial audio music to blow up in 2023.

As an Apple Music subscriber, I’m thrilled at the prospect of more immersive mixes. It really enhances the listening experience when done right. Bring it on Apple!
