Apple May Boost iPhone 16 Brightness with Micro-Lens Arrays, But at a Cost

Apple is reportedly considering adding micro-lens arrays to the iPhone 16's OLED screens to enhance brightness and reduce power consumption. However, this upgrade may come at the expense of a narrower field of view and potentially higher manufacturing costs.

As of now, neither company has met these criteria, and they have until Apple commences mass production of the iPhone 16 in the latter half of 2024 to reach the required level of performance.

This potential enhancement to iPhone screens follows earlier reports suggesting that the iPhone 16 Pro might feature a new 48MP ultra-wide camera and improved low-light photography capabilities. Alongside these camera upgrades, the inclusion of micro-lens arrays could position the iPhone 16 series as contenders among the best camera phones on the market.
