Anthropic’s Claude AI Can Read a Whole Book in Under a Minute

Anthropic, a company that develops artificial intelligence (AI) technology, has announced that it has expanded the capabilities of its Claude AI language model. Claude can now read and process information from an entire book in under a minute.

This is a significant development, as it means that Claude can now be used for a wider range of tasks. For example, Claude can be used to quickly summarize lengthy financial statements or research papers, assess pieces of legislation, identify risks and arguments across legal documents, and comb through dense developer documentation.

Claude’s expanded capabilities are made possible by its increased context window. A context window is the number of words that Claude can see around a given word. Claude’s context window has been increased from 9,000 tokens to 100,000 tokens. This means that Claude can now see more of the surrounding text, which allows it to better understand the meaning of the words it is reading.

To test Claude’s new capabilities, Anthropic loaded the novel The Great Gatsby into the AI and modified a single line to say that Mr. Carraway was “a software engineer that works on machine learning tooling at Anthropic.” Claude was able to spot the change within 22 seconds.

Anthropic’s Claude AI is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with information. With its ability to read and process information at superhuman speeds, Claude can help us to quickly and easily understand complex topics.
