AMD’s Next-Gen GPU Successor to RX 7600: Affordable Option Set to Showcase Nvidia-Competitive Performance

Recent rumors have suggested that AMD’s next-generation graphics cards, RDNA 4, may not include a high-end GPU, leading to concerns among enthusiasts. However, it’s important to treat these rumors as speculation until official information is available.

Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID), a tech YouTube channel, has explored why there shouldn’t be excessive concern about RDNA 4’s potential performance. According to an unnamed source cited by MLID, AMD is planning to release two mid-range monolithic GPUs, likely named Navi 43 and Navi 44. These GPUs are expected to remain competitive into 2025.

The key takeaway is that, compared to current mid-range offerings, these upcoming GPUs should deliver significantly improved performance. MLID notes that RDNA 4 will benefit from a superior manufacturing process, likely 3nm or 4nm, compared to RDNA 3, which will provide a performance boost. Even the current RX 7600, based on a 6nm process, is already competitive with Nvidia’s RTX 4060 in rasterization (non-ray tracing) tasks, despite the latter using a 5nm process.

If AMD can address any power consumption issues seen in RDNA 3, there is potential for RDNA 4 mid-range GPUs to offer impressive performance relative to their predecessors, thanks to the process node improvement. However, it’s important to await official details and benchmarks before drawing definitive conclusions.
