Amazon as gotten rid of junk ads on Apple Product pages

Amazon seems to be treating Apple like royalty on its platform. You know how sometimes you search for a product, and you’re bombarded with a bunch of random ads? Well, that’s what the Federal Trade Commission accused Amazon of – filling up search results with what they call “junk ads.”

But here’s the interesting part: when it comes to Apple, it’s a whole different story. Insider dug into it and found that Apple’s product pages, like for the iPhone and iPad, are like an ad-free oasis. No clutter, just the good stuff. Now, if you take a peek at rivals like Samsung Galaxy or Microsoft Surface, it’s a different scene – ads, recommendations, the whole shebang.

We did a bit of snooping ourselves, and yep, Apple’s pages are definitely cleaner.

Turns out, there’s a backstory. Back in 2018, Apple apparently asked Amazon to keep its pages free from ad chaos, and according to an email spilled by the House Judiciary Committee, Amazon’s then-retail CEO, Jeff Wilke, mentioned that Apple didn’t want their pages filled with ads for other brands. And you know what? Amazon seemed to have agreed.

Apple spilled the beans too, admitting they have this deal with Amazon. The goal? A better experience for us, the customers. They also said it helps tackle the issue of fake Apple products on Amazon – apparently, they used to send Amazon tons of takedown notices.

Now, we’re not exactly sure if money is changing hands between these tech giants, but that email from the House hinted at the possibility. Amazon initially said, “No way,” but then talked about Apple compensating them for lost ad revenue. So, who knows? All we can say is, Apple’s enjoying a bit of VIP treatment on Amazon.
