Amazfit has returned with a pair of cost-effective fitness smartwatches: the Amazfit Active and the Active Edge. These smartwatches offer a blend of powerful features, stylish designs, and affordability.
Starting with the Amazfit Active, it boasts a rectangular 1.75-inch screen, bearing a resemblance to the Apple Watch. Notably, its AMOLED display outputs a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels, offering performance comparable to the Apple Watch Series 9. AMOLED technology is known for its energy efficiency. The Amazfit Active promises a battery life of up to 14 hours with typical usage. However, activating Battery Saver Mode can extend it to a maximum of 30 days, providing flexibility for users.
For those who prefer a more eye-catching design, the Amazfit Active Edge features a rugged, rounder shape designed to withstand bumps. It carries a water resistance rating of 10 ATM (atmospheres), enabling it to function up to 100 meters underwater, a notable advantage over the Active model, which is limited to 50 meters underwater. It’s important to note that the company recommends not wearing it during showers due to the potential impact of steam on the tight seal.
In terms of performance, the Active Edge features a 1.32-inch display with a maximum resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. Its battery life can last up to 16 days, but with Battery Saver Mode activated, it can extend to an impressive 24 days, although this does come with a slight trade-off in display quality.
The key strengths of these fitness smartwatches lie in their software features. Both devices enable users to create personalized training plans using Zepp Coach, offering integration with over 120 exercises, from running to combat sports. They also provide 24/7 monitoring of essential physiological metrics, including heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Reliable GPS tracking is supported by five satellite systems.
Notably, the Amazfit Active incorporates the company’s proprietary “Readiness function.” This function assesses several parameters, including body temperature, breathing quality, and sleeping heart rate, to provide users with a readiness score. This score indicates how well their body has recovered after a night’s rest, helping users manage their physical well-being.
Both the Amazfit Active and Active Edge are available for purchase on the company’s official website. The Amazfit Active starts at $150 and is offered in Midnight Black, Petal Pink, and Lavender Purple color options. The Active Edge starts at $140 and offers three color choices, including Mint Green, Midnight Pulse, and Lava Black, which features an eye-catching fiery appearance.
Purchasers of these smartwatches will also receive a free trial of Zepp Fitness, providing access to a new AI chatbot for training tips and nutrition advice. The availability of international launches for these products remains uncertain, pending further updates.
Amazfit’s latest offerings aim to provide users with affordable, feature-rich fitness smartwatches that cater to diverse preferences and requirements, from stylish design to impressive battery life options.
