Alonso expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It feels great. I always had self-confidence in what I could do in terms of driving – overconfidence sometimes – but that’s part of my DNA probably, but it is proof maybe for people outside.” He acknowledged that many new fans might have only seen him fighting to make it to the third qualifying session or retiring from races due to technical issues.
The veteran driver believes that these fans are now pleasantly surprised to witness him competing at the front of the grid. He added, “But for me, it’s just… it is okay, and I’m enjoying it, but it is more enjoyable that people or new fans can see that we are fast.”
