It’s been found that generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Google’s Bard lack effective defenses against fraudsters, creating a potential goldmine for scammers to craft convincing phishing emails and messages that are virtually indistinguishable from legitimate communications.
The Challenge of Identifying Scams
In the past, one common method for spotting scams was the use of poor grammar and spelling in phishing emails and scam messages. Over half, 54%, of those surveyed by Which? reported that they relied on such linguistic errors to identify potential scams. However, generative AI tools challenge this traditional approach.
