Amazon claims seven of its own folks from the US were in cahoots with these refund renegades.
According to Amazon, REKK is like the ringleader in an underground scheme, waving fraudulent refunds like a shady magic wand. They’re even flexing on platforms like Telegram, with a fan base of over 35,000. The alleged tactics? Social engineering, phishing, and sneaky maneuvers into Amazon’s systems, all to cook up these sneaky refunds. Customers are apparently getting away with paying just 30% of the actual item price.
Amazon spills the beans that they’ve thrown a whopping $1.2 billion and roped in 15,000 soldiers to fend off theft and fraud. They’ve even brought in the big guns like machine learning to sniff out dodgy refund requests. Now, they’re throwing down in court with 11 requests, demanding damages, coverage for legal bills, and restitution for the unjust enrichment.
