The next Windows update could bring Copilot to exponentially more users

Microsoft has been trying to push Copilot to as many users as possible, and to that effect, they have accelerated the seeding process to get the feature out to more and more users. The reasoning behind this is broad. More users means more feedback, and more data points to train their Copilot model. Initially, they restricted Copilot to Windows 11 as it is the newest version, but now, it looks like they want to expand Copilot usage to Windows 10 as well.

Multiple sources online have reported that the upcoming Windows 10 update will add the Copilot button in the taskbar, and users can click on it to access the full range of AI features available on the Copilot platform at the moment. Microsoft wants to keep Copilot consistent across both Windows 11 and Windows 10, as any sort of cut-offs will be a let and right now, Microsoft wants as many users as possible on the Copilot hype train.

One more reason for this move would be to incentivise developers as a user base of a billion is a lot more encouraging, and with Windows 10 users in the mix, this number is achievable. At the moment, there is no release date for Copilot on Windows 10, but the intention is real and they are working behind the scenes to get this feature out as soon as possible.

When it comes to enterprises, Microsoft has had a difficult time getting organisations on board as an enterprise license of Copilot requires a minimum 300 seat commitment and even if that is done, the organisation would have to pay at least $9,000 per month just for generative AI, or $19,800 per month in conjunction with a Microsoft 365 E3 license.
