Unthink social network is now live [Review]

Update : Unthink.com is unreachable and is believed to be shut down.

Unthink might be the last attempt by any company in the social network sites race. After a series of anti-Facebook promos and YouTube videos questioning Facebook’s privacy issues and a direct attack on other social networks Unthink.com went live in beta with again an invite only campaign. We decided to test the new kid on the block thanks for the early invite code unlike Google plus invite this was much easier to get.

Registration/Signup  :

Unthink allows personal and business profile(maybe something similar to Facebook Fan Pages ) creation being in beta business profile is still not enabled. After entering your email id wait for the invite code to arrive in your email address.

Installation/setup:

After you enter the invite code you will be asked to fill up your credentials  interestingly you will find many countries missing from the drop down menu which includes whole of middle east countries and some African countries. The 5 setup process is a boring process(reminded of a software installation ) filled with  preamble, unthank deed , endorsing a brand which makes up for the cost of maintaining a suite in return you get showcased on a iEndorse channel (some think like recommended by you shown in Facebook ads) a separate channel  for brand endorsement and there is invite step which imports contacts from other platforms like Gmail,Yahoo,Hotmail etc. to invite your friends to Unthink.com.

And finally there is Emancipation suitcase a once click link which imports all your Facebook media to Unthink.com but being in beta the link didn’t work even after few attempts.

Unthink Homepage:

Unlike other social networks you have 4 status update box namely iUnthink (your public posts ) ,social( your friends and families ),professional(colleagues  and where you can apply for a job the LinkedIn part) and lifestyle (the one you will be interacting with the brands ) looks like the notion of creating different status updates for different group of people you interact with was under development process much before Google circles and Facebook lists came into existence.

Privacy:

Unthink.com ‘s main selling theme seems to be freedom and privacy and total control of your profile and its very perfect as you will see the well-defined privacy link across each groups.

Verdict :

After spending an hour with unthink.com all I can say its too early to say (it’s still in beta) is whether this product can have a unique killer feature that can replace other social networks and the privacy issues addressed in Facebook are sought out and the concept of having 4 status update box is unnecessary to design where you can have the same thing achieved with circles and lists. The iEndorse feature looks promising and you have both like and dislike links for each post.
