No Blocking Elon Musk or Others on X: New Policy Announcement

Elon Musk has announced that Twitter, now known as “X,” will be removing the option to block other users, except for direct messages (DMs). Musk argued that blocking users “makes no sense” and that muting them is a better option. The mute feature, which allows users to stop seeing another user’s content, will still be available.

The decision to remove the block feature has raised concerns, as many users rely on it to protect themselves from harassment and unwanted interactions. Blocking can be an essential safety feature on social media platforms. Additionally, some users block advertisers and brands they do not want to see, potentially impacting X’s advertising revenue.

This change comes after X previously killed off its free API, disrupting third-party apps, including tools designed to mitigate harassment. The removal of the block function could lead to more users seeking alternative platforms as X becomes less accommodating to their needs.
