You meet a lot of people on Facebook, form bonds, collaborate, and even reconnect with old acquaintances. There may be some situations where a person you meet may not always have your best interests at heart, and may also indulge in some not-so-great activity on the social media platform. Facebook takes this very seriously and in effect, has created a block feature that allows you to shut down these accounts and keep them from interacting with you on the platform until you see fit.
Blocking users ensures that the latter is unable to interact with your posts, send you a message on messenger, or even search for you across the platform. The operation is in effect as long as you deem it to be and it is very useful when the person in question is really proving to be a menace and a disturbance. However, if you do not want to outright block a user on Facebook, one more thing you can do is Unfollow them so that you can stop receiving notifications from the server in question.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to unfriend a user on Facebook.
Open the web browser on your PC/Laptop.
Step 1. In the URL bar, type in www.facebook.com.
Step 2. Sign in to your Facebook account.
Step 3. In the search bar, type in the name of the user you want to unfriend.
Step 4. Click on the correct user profile and you will now see their profile page.
Step 5. Click on the button that says ‘Friends’.
Step 6. Click on the ‘Unfriend’ option from the drop-down menu.
You will now be unfriended by the chosen user.
Make sure that you do a thorough analysis on whether or not you really want to unfriend a particular user, because if you go through with the process, and change your mind later, it is totally up to them to accept your new friend request.
