Meaning – The term pushback, refers to the expression or manifestation of resistance, dissent, or disagreement to a proposed plan, process, or policy.
In an organization, when there is a project ongoing in its planning stage, there may be situations where some of the employees may not agree with the plans or the direction in which the project is headed, and in such cases, the manager may face a level of pushback.
The response to the pushback lies solely in the hands of the manager. He/She may choose to act on the pushback or ignore it entirely.
Example of usage – “Pushback is a mechanism for defending against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. DDoS attacks are treated as a congestion-control problem, but because most such congestion is caused by malicious hosts not obeying traditional end-to-end congestion control, the problem must be handled by the routers.”
