Pop-up menu

Meaning – The term pop-up menu, refers to a menu that, when requested, appears next to the object with which it is associated.

Usually, pop-up menus can be found in the UI of the operating system or a software package. This is done to make the platform a lot more aesthetic and reveal menus or menu items only when required, rather than making them visible all the time. This streamlines the software and enhances the experience of the user.

Sometimes, the pop-up menu may also feature a small animation to enhance the visual appeal.

Example of usage “As a newly recruited designer, his task was to redesign all the pop-up menus of the software that was developed by the company as they had received a lot of negative reviews and wanted to make improvements to make the user experience better.”
