Meaning – The term PF4, refers to the act of erasing and destroying files and documents. In an organization, there are thousands of files and documents that may be surplus to requirement or even obsolete. In such cases, rather than letting the files occupy space on the server and the office, a group of employees is put in charge of erasing and destroying these files from the server as well as hard copies.
However, before the employees perform the PF4 operation, they have to perform their due diligence and ensure that the documents and files that are to be deleted are truly obsolete and of no use to the organization anymore.
Example of usage – “He was part of the group of employees tasked with the PF4 operation on unwanted files within the organization. They performed a thorough check on the files and then proceeded with the PF4 operation.”
